Optional Practical Training (OPT) is program for international student in the US to work temporarily up to 12 months. International student who completing degree in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are eligible to work for up to 24 months. They can work anywhere in USA up to 36 months after completion of study. Most of the institutions can assist international students with finding employment on-campus and off-campus. Expired on OPT period student need to find an employer who can file H1B for him.
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) program allows international students to get work experience related to their major. CPT program training through employment paid or unpaid internship.
